In conjunction with the Home School Association, St. Agnes Cathedral School’s fifth graders participated in their second annual book donation drive. The drive was created to foster the love of reading for those who might not be able to afford to buy books on their own.
The students started to collect gently used children's books to be donated to the Rosa Lee Young Childhood Center, the St. Agnes Cathedral Outreach and Our Holy Redeemer Parish.
The fifth graders exceeded the association's expectations by collecting 1,800 books. Taking their inspiration from the Chinese proverb "A book is like a garden carried in your pocket" the students created their own similes to decorate inspirational bookmarks that they made for the recipients.
