St. Mark’s hosting gospel concert

St. Mark’s United Methodist Church will sponsor a special event on Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. in the church’s sanctuary, with a “traditional” Sunday dinner to follow.

The renowned gospel group The Shepherd’s Singers will perform a concert of inspirational music starting at 3 p.m. The Shepherd’s Singers began in 1993 as an a cappella men’s gospel group. Over the years, several voices have been added, along with piano accompaniment, rhythm and bass guitar, jazz and African drums and saxophone. The Singers perform traditional “down home” repertoire, as well as contemporary gospel and jazz pieces.

After the concert, which is expected to last about an hour, a traditional homemade Sunday dinner will be served.

Tickets for the concert and dinner are $20 for adults and $10 for children 6 to 16. Children under 6 are free. This reservation-only event will have limited tickets. To order tickets, call the St. Mark’s Church Office at 766-2080.
