Stop & Shop presented the community with a single plan for their new store. The plan indicated that the expanded store would reach the end of the property line and include a basement.
The new loading dock would have three bays for trucks on the other side of the store, away from residential homes. Also, there is a planned turnaround facility in the municipal lot so trucks would be off the street, eliminating any backup of traffic on Hewlett Avenue.
Store representatives said they'd next meet with a committee formed by the Merrick Park Home Owners Association to discuss residents' concerns. The meeting, which isn't open to the public, will take place in early May.
