The Long Island Power Authority reported sporadic outages in the area, including one in neighboring Wantagh, and a number of trees and large branches fell. The home of Patricia and Stephen Faulkner on Roger Road in North Bellmore barely escaped damage when limbs fell from a tree on their front lawn.
"All the plants over there were shady perennials," Patricia Faulkner said, pointing to the base of what was left of the tree. "Now we need to get sunny perennials."
