Calhoun is one of only 98 high schools nationwide to receive the honor.
Schools that qualify for the award demonstrate leadership through school and community service projects, spirit activities, goal setting and financial planning.
This year's officers include Angelina Caruso (president), Casey Burbes (vice president), Emily Garfinkel (secretary), Amanda Iseppon (treasurer), Stephanie Frasca (historian) and Jason Boland (adviser).
Student Government had another busy year at Calhoun, planning the second annual Friday Night Lights Pep Rally, the Hurricane Katrina school semi-formal, Spirit Week, Homecoming hallway decorations, Homecoming king and queen elections, the Homecoming parade, Battle of the Classes, and class officer elections. Their most meaningful contribution was a $1,000 donation to Biloxi High School in Mississippi, which was severely affected by Hurricane Katrina.
