Students have Field Day fun at Carlson

Fourth-grade students at Clara H. Carlson School in Elmont showed off their athleticism and school spirit at their Field Day event last month.

The day’s activities were planned by physical education teachers Mary Delahanty and Jeremy Fitzgibbon and focused on testing students’ agility, speed and strength. The children, who along with teachers dressed in field day T-shirts that read work hard, play harder #LikeABoss #CHC Field Day 2015, had a great time taking part in many activities such as javelin throw, a basketball shootout and the backyard beanbag toss game Baggo. The boys and girls also went head-to-head in relay races and tug-of-war competitions.

According to Fitzgibbon, the students had an opportunity to earn points for demonstrating good sportsmanship during each activity. The class receiving the most points was given a small trophy at the end of the day. Congratulations to Ms. Griffin’s class!
