Sun shines just in time for Watson Field Day

Students at Floyd B. Watson Elementary School were understandably worried about the status of their much-anticipated Field Day on May 31 when they arrived to the building that morning under dreary weather conditions.

But as the day progressed, those frowns turned upside down as the clouds parted and the sun came out, paving the way for an exciting and memorable day.

All of the Watson students enjoyed a magical montage of outdoor activities, such as a giant inflatable water slide, running and jumping through an enormous bouncy obstacle course, a tug-of-war and some refreshing ices.

The students had the time of their lives as they moved from station to station, which was all sponsored by the Watson PTA.

“It was outrageous,” said Watson Principal Joan Waldman after watched the children.

The annual event, which was organized by physical education teacher Steve Mariano, serves to promote school pride and unity among the students. Many parents were also on hand to assist in the festivities, such as the Sponge Water Relay Race and the Cowboy Wash. The students were wet, but all smiles, as they rotated around the field enjoying the amazing activities.
