Sunday: Trees down, power out in Rockville Centre

Winds from different directions brought many trees and tree limbs down in the village, causing a substantial number of homes to lose power.

Many Rockville Centre residents woke up to full-force tropical storm conditions that caused tree damage and power outages in many locations.
Reached on his mobile phone, Mayor Francis Murray told the Herald there are "alot of trees down" and the situation is "not good."
He was in a car with Electric Department Superintendent Paul Pallas and Village Administrator Frank Quigley. Murray said he had been up all night, as had crews from the Electric Department who were responding to power outages in the village.
