Support SIBSPlace see Broadway performances

Posted

From the SIBSplace community to Broadway join the virtual fundraiser fun on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m., that includes performances by Tony-nominated Jenn Colella and the musicians from the Broadway show, “Come from Away” coupled with inspiring family stories and images of the new SIBSPlace in Rockville Centre.

SIBSPlace, an affiliate of Mount Sinai South Nassau, is a free therapeutic support program that has served children and families for 20 years. It provides a safety net for families coping with the devastating illness or death of a sibling or parent. Families have come to rely on SIBSPlace as they struggle to not only cope with their loved one’s devastating medical diagnosis, but also the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

During the pandemic, SIBSPlace transitioned our in-person services to online groups. Connections have been maintained with families through the SIBS @ Home Program, which sent weekly therapeutic support packages containing expressive arts materials to the homes of more than 775 participants. SIBSPlace also offered Camp SIBS, Bereavement Groups and Parent Group, all virtually.

SIBSPlace have resumed in-person program, while still providing online therapeutic services. All activities foster resiliency and empowerment, while bringing much needed peer interaction and sense of community to families during this unpredictable situation
