Surfers show skills at Unsound Pro event

The Unsound Pro Surf competition was held off National Blvd. beach, and was presented by Unsound Surf Shop from Sept. 8-12. Pros and amateurs from around the country competed for a $20,0000 prize in the men’s and women’s divisions in several “heats.”  Ocean waves were relatively calm, providing a smooth surface for all skill

levels.

At the busy Nike tent, personalized t-shirts were given out free of charge, while other giveaways were handed out by representatives from Red Bull, Dragon Sunglasses and Unsound Surf. Local surf prodigy T.J. Gumiela took third place in the Junior Pro competition, and the overall winner of the day was Long Beach graduate and local surf hero, Balaram Stack.
