Nassau County and Rockville Centre police are asking for the public's help in finding Carl C. Perryman, 23, in connection with a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of July 26 in the rear of Old Mill Court, near Maine Avenue and Peninsula Boulevard. On Friday morning they released a Crime Stoppers poster with a photo of Perryman.
Police said that at 2:32 a.m. that Sunday morning, they have reason to believe Perryman was walking on the foot path of the Morgan Days North Field with a 47-year-old man who has not been identified. As the two entered the woods, Perryman allegedly shot him numerous times in the neck and face, police said. The victim was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital, and is listed in stable condition. Police say Perryman ran from the scene.
In April, Perryman was accused of, but was found not guilty of, the murder of his childhood friend, David Baez, who also grew up and, like Perryman, still lived in the housing complex at Old Mill Court. Baez was shot to death in front of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center on N. Centre Avenue in May 2008, after attending a birthday party for his girlfriend's father.
Police describe Perryman as a 5' 10", 170 lbs. black man with short black hair, with a mustache and goatee. He is said to fequent Rockville Centre, Hempstead and Roosevelt, and may possibly be driving a 2006 Gray Nissan Altima with New York registration DUV-8657.
Anyone with information about this case, or the whereabouts of Perryman, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at its toll free number (800) 244-TIPS. All callers will remain anyonymous. There is a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to Perryman's arrest.
