Following a 16-month investigation by the Long Beach Police Department’s Narcotic Task Force, police arrested a Georgia Avenue woman on felony drug charges for allegedly selling cocaine out of her West End home.
Police Commissioner Thomas Sofield Sr. announced on Tuesday that 43-year-old Colleen Ferrick, of 51 Georgia Avenue, was arrested on May 20 and charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both class B felonies.
Police said that they had received numerous complaints about the residence, and said that Ferrick could face additional charges in the near future.
“The Long Beach Police Department will not tolerate individuals engaging in the sale and distribution of illegal drugs,” Sgt. Richard DePalma, of the department’s Street Crime Unit, said in a statement. DePalma credited the community for providing information that led to the investigation and subsequent arrest. Police said Ferrick had been selling cocaine out of her residence in the West End neighborhood for more than a year and that more suspects could be arrested as a result of the investigation.
“We expect more arrests coming from that arrest,” Inspector Jack Radin told members of the West End Neighbors Civic Association last week.
