The Tanger Outlet Center held their 8th annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day on Oct. 6. Tanger donated %1 of sales to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society through this important event. As its primary charity, Tanger has contributed in excess of $1.1 million to the ACS since 1994.
Tanger's 29 outlet centers nationwide focus on the battle against breast cancer. Tanger's Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign takes place now through Oct. 31, raising funds for the ACS and also raising awareness for the importance of early detection and for breast cancer research to find a much-needed cure for this dreadful disease affecting American families.
In addition, Breast Cancer Benefit Discount Booklets can be purchased with proceeds going to the fight against breast cancer. In light of the recent tragedy in New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania, Tanger will be donating 50% of the Benefit Discount Booklet sales to the American Red Cross Relief Fund.
If you need more information on this important campaign, contact your local Tanger Outlet Center General Manager or call 1-800-4TANGER.

A woman's heart
Among American women heart disease is the number one cause of death. Still, many consider it to be a man's disease. To raise the level of awareness among women of their coronary health, Jennifer Mieres, MD, director of nuclear cardiology at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, was inspired to help produce the film "A Woman's Heart." It will air on Sun., Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m. on PBS affiliate WLIW (channel 21).
"As a cardiologist, I am well aware that many women believe a heart attack just won't happen to them," says Dr. Mieres. "Sometimes it's too late for us to help them. That's why I've put my heart into this project. I'm confident that it will save lives, as well as empowering women to take charge of their heart health."
