John Hall, 19, was pronounced dead at 2:45 a.m. by emergency medical technicians at the scene, Nassau County police said.
Hall was riding a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle on Bellmore Avenue when he apparently lost control at Broad Street and slammed into a building at 1512 Bellmore Ave., police said. The site is just steps from the North Bellmore Engine Company No. 1 firehouse. It was unclear whether Hall owned the vehicle. Hall graduated from Mepham High School last year, where he was a member of the football team.
Flowers, photographs, balloons and a large wooden cross with autographs marked the accident site on Sunday. Teenage friends of the victim gathered at the makeshift memorial throughout the day to pay their respects and console one another. Other details about the fatal accident and information about funeral arrangements were not available at press time.
