The East Rockaway Village Board recognized the East Rockaway Auxiliary Police Department and its members at Monday night’s regular village board meeting.
“This unit has built up from two members in the beginning to the 15 members it has now,” said Mayor Fran Lenahan. “Under Deputy Inspector Diane LauKaitis, this is a unit to be proud of.” Lenahan pointed out that many of the auxiliary members live outside of East Rockaway, but chose to serve and protect in this village.
