The amazing Joss Whedon has created a dazzling cornucopia of fantasy, science fiction and goofy humor in the year's most thrilling comic book saga.
The snarky, offbeat force behind such groundbreaking television and web series as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Whedon has cleverly defined the talents and challenges of a gaggle of Marvel superheroes while successfully combining them into the ultimate A team.
The film features standout performances by Robert Downey, jr and Mark Ruffalo (as Iron Man and The Hulk) and a limitless supply of state-of-the-art special effects work. But it succeeds because Whedon, the ultimate fan boy, knows just what to do with the material.
Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action throughout, and a mild drug reference
