      It was an incumbent year for candidates on Nassau County's South Shore with no challengers pulling upsets.

      

In Congressgressional races:

      Carolyn McCarthy (D) defeated Marilyn O'Grady (R) 92,232 to 70,215.

      Peter King (R) defeated Stuart Finz (D) 92,545 to 76,109.



In State Senate races:

      Kemp Hannon (R) defeated Norman St. George (D) 42,554 to 24,580.

      Michael Balboni (R) defeated E. Christoner Murray (D) 47,480 to 28,751.       

      Charles J. Fuschillo Jr. (R) defeated Kenneth Dash (D) 44,228 to 19,723.

      Dean G. Skelos (R) defeated Richard Glassberg (D) 54,819 to 24,074.

      

In State Assembly races:

      Robert Barra (R) defeated Vincent Grasso (D) 18,405 to 11,702.

      Maureen O'Connell (R) defeated Thomas Sobczak (D) 24,449 to 9,930.

      Earlene Hooper Hill (D) defeated Raymond Rhoden (R) 16,690 to 4,887.

      David McDonhough (R) defeated Michael Moore (D) 21,068 to 13,161.

      Harvey Weisenberg (D) defeated Peter McDonald (R) 22,196 to 11,073.

      Thomas Alfano (R) defeated Joseph Defelice (D) 22,239 to 9,214.

      

Nassau County Proposition

      The Nassau County proposition granting Atlantic Beach its own zoning won with 59,151 voting yes and 50,775 voting against.
