Nash brings to the board more than 30 years' experience as a CPA, and he helped make this year's budget increase one of the lowest in Nassau County. Nash was instrumental in instituting the Capital Reserve Fund, which the district has used successfully to fund needed capital projects with no increase in the tax rate. He would like to institute a five-year financial plan for the district that would identify its future financial needs, so that proper steps can be taken to achieve educational goals while not overburdening the taxpayers.
As chairman of the Technology Budget Committee, Nash has led the effort to maintain Lynbrook's reputation as one of the most technologically advanced school districts in the state. He supports open honors classes and additional electives for high school students.
Nash is married and has two sons who graduated from Lynbrook High School. A member of the community for 22 years, he is a past president of the Excellence in Education Foundation and is currently a member of its board of directors. He has a degree in accounting from Brooklyn College and an MBA from Baruch College.

David Herrmann

David Herrmann is a lifelong resident of Lynbrook and a 1984 graduate of Lynbrook High. He has a degree in history from Franklin and Marshall and a master's in secondary education from Brooklyn College. A lifelong resident of Lynbrook, Herrmann has taught at Kennedy High School PlainviewÐOld Bethpage for 15 years, where he leads classes in U.S. history and government and Advanced Placement government.
Herrmann was elected to the Board of Education three years ago and is seeking a second term. He helped create meetings between the board and various stakeholder groups, like the PTA Council and the administration, and implemented a multisensory reading program geared to helping special-education students. He was instrumental in the hiring of additional curriculum coordinators and using data mining to help drive instruction.
Herrmann's goals for a second term include working to provide students with the necessary services in order to meet the current New York State and NCLB academic standards, and maintaining the cohesive, small-town feel of Lynbrook.
He is married to Kim Herrmann, a teacher at Lynbrook High, and has two children. Herrmann is a member of the Lynbrook Excellence in Education Foundation and coaches Lynbrook Little League.

Larry Lombardo

Larry Lombardo is seeking a seat on the Lynbrook Board of Education for the second time. He ran unsuccessfully in the 1990s. He is a retired New York City Transit Authority sergeant and has a degree in sociology and criminal justice, with graduate credits, from Queens College. His community involvement is extensive: He is a current or past member of St Mary's Knights of Columbus, Cardinal Mercier 4th Degree Assembly, and the Sons of Italy. He is also a Eucharistic Minister for Our Lady of Peace Church.
Lombardo promises to work to make the district's schools safe for every child. He is passionate about curtailing bullying, and would like to make community service, which is a prerequisite for graduation, a form of punishment as well for those in need of discipline. Lombardo has been outspoken in his displeasure with school administrators and the board when he his own child was an alleged victim of school bullying.
He has been married to his wife, Lydia, for 18 years and has a daughter who attends Lynbrook High School.
