Calhoun High School




Stacy Davidowitz
Valedictorian

      At Calhoun, Stacy was a member of five honor societies and the International Thespian Society. An Advanced Placement Scholar with honors, Stacy devoted herself to drama and music throughout high school. This year she served as president of the On Tour Company, Calhoun's magnet drama program that draws students from all three Central District high schools. During high school, she performed principal roles in six major dramatic productions.
      Stacy was a member of the All-County and All-State choirs. She also sang the National Anthem at New York Jets and New York Dragons games.
      Beyond that, Stacy was a scholar-athlete who earned All-Division honors in varsity track and was a second-place singles winner in varsity tennis.
      Additionally, she was involved in Athletes Helping Athletes, Peer AIDS Education, Key Club, Odyssey of the Mind, and she was assistant copy editor of the yearbook and co-editor of the school newspaper, Hoofbeats.
      Stacy will attend Tufts University in the fall.


Josh Sarner
Salutatorian

      Josh was a member of three honor societies who maintained a place on the Honor Roll throughout high school. He was a four-year participant on the math team and earned a Student Achievement Award in math. He also devoted himself to community service through the Key Club.
      Outside of school, Josh participated since seventh grade on the Bellmore-Merrick Bulldogs ice-hockey team. He twice served the team as assistant captain. He also provided peer tutoring in math and science and worked during the summer as a camp counselor.
      Josh will attend New York University in the fall.

Kennedy High School



Evan Purvin
Valedictorian


      Evan was a member of three honor societies who was four times a Student of the Month. An Advanced Placement Scholar, Evan took part in Summer Science Research at Hofstra University and submitted research projects to three major competitions between 10th and 12 grades.
      A four-year member of the Key Club, Evan also dedicated time to computer club, varsity choir and yearbook. He performed community service at Back-to-School Night, the annual Beach Cleanup, the Kennedy High School Blood Drive, the Dennis Griggs Walk, the Lupus Walk and the Scholarship Drive. He also peer-tutored in math.
      Outside of school, Evan worked all four years of high school in his father's podiatry office. He will attend Cornell University in the fall.

Marc Sittenreich
Salutatorian


      Marc was a National Merit Commended student who was a member of three honor societies. Throughout high school, he devoted himself to the Science Research Program and took part on the math team and in the computer club. He also contributed to the Cougar Crier, the school newspaper, and the Kennedy High School yearbook.
      Marc performed community service through the Key Club and peer tutoring in connection with the National Honor Society.
      His summer activities included camp counseling during his sophomore year and working as a summer intern for Nassau County Legislator David Denenberg as junior.
      Marc will attend Tufts University in the fall.

Mepham High School




Barry Dolinger
Valedictorian


      In addition to taking five Advanced Placement courses this year, Barry was named an Advanced Placement Scholar for his work the previous year.
      Barry received many academic awards and honors for his participation in math and science fairs. Barry was a member of three honor societies, is listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students, and was a semi-finalist in the 2003 National Merit Scholarship Program.
      Barry was a member of the jazz band, A World of Difference Club, peer tutoring, the school newspaper, the math team, It's Academic team, mock trial and the district's Curriculum Committee.
      An athlete as well, Barry was a four-year member of the varsity tennis team, and he earned his black belt in jujitsu.
      Outside of school, Barry was a counselor at the Merrick Woods Day Camp, and he attended the National Student Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. He also graduated with honors from Hebrew High School, and he is president of his temple's youth group.
      Barry hopes to study political science in college.


Megan McCormick
Salutatorian

      Meghan took four Advanced Placement courses this year, entered the Intel Science Research competition, and was named in Who's Who Among American High School Students.
      Throughout her career at Mepham, Meghan won awards in English, math, science, and social studies, and she presented projects and won honors in the Long Island Science Congress competition.
      Meghan indulges her passion for dance by taking ballet, toe, tap, jazz and lyrical dance classes outside of school. She also took part in Book Buddies, a program through which she reads to young children. And she has volunteered at the Long Island Marathon and Breast Cancer Walk, and she worked with second-graders in her parish religious program.
      In September, Meghan will attend the University of Buffalo and begin pre-medical studies.
