Thief skips heist

Just call him the Changed-His-Mind Bandit.

Nassau County Police are looking for a man that they say attempted to rob the Citibank on Merrick Road in Rockville Centre on Nov. 21.

Just before noon, police said that a man entered the bank and gave the teller a demand note. But seconds later, the man suddenly left the back without any money and headed north through the rear parking lot.

There were 10 employees and two customers in the bank at the time, none of whom were injured.

Police say the suspect is between 35 and 40 years old, 5’7” tall, wearing a light blue button-down shirt, black jeans, a bandana on his head and sunglasses.

Detectives ask anyone with information about the crime to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
