Three Valley Stream men were arrested on Monday after Nassau County police officers allegedly spotted two of them leaving a North Central Avenue liquor store through a smashed glass door with a crate of stolen spirits.

Police said that officers watched Robert Rivas, 23, and Omar Shaukat, 19, emerge through the broken front door of North Central Liquors, at 399 N. Central Ave., at 4:43 a.m. The men were carrying a crate of assorted liquor bottles and tools, including a screwdriver, a metal pole, a sledgehammer handle and hammers, police said. The officers watched the men get into a gray 2014 Mazda MZ5, which drove away.

The officers stopped the car, which was driven by Kevin Posadas, 22. They said they saw a bag containing what appeared to be marijuana laying on the back seat. Police arrested the men.

The suspects were each charged with third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools. Police said that additional charges might be added “at a later date.” The defendants were arraigned on March 7, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
