Holiday Celebration At Old Westbury House - Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13-14.Old Westbury Gardens holiday festivities continue for a final weekend. Saturday's events include a concert by the popular Barbershop Chorus of Mid-Islanders, at 7 p.m. After the program, chorus members will lead impromptu sing-alongs in various rooms as visitors tour Westbury House. The following day, Sunday, Long Island's Kende Trio performs at 1:30 p.m. Later on that day, award-winning singer/songwriter Patricia Shih presents a holiday version of her hit multi-cultural show, "Big Ideas," at 5:15 and 6:15 p.m. She encourages visitors of all ages to participate in songs that celebrate Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanzaa, expressing the holiday spirit of caring and sharing for each other and the world.Concerts are held in the Westbury House's Red Ballroom, Old Westbury Gardens, Westbury. Bel Canto Chorale's Holiday Concert - Saturday, Dec. 13, 8 p.m. The Wantagh-based choir, composed of members from all over Long Island, performs Messiah! A Holiday Celebration Of Music From The German And English Tradition. The Chorale, directed by Brad Ford, sings the Christmas portion of Handel's Messiah, with full orchestra, along with works by Hassler, Brahms, Howells, and Mathias, among others.The performance takes place at the Cathedral of the Incarnation Church, Cathedral Ave., Garden City. For ticket information call (516) 826-6344.Early Music New York Presents Renaissance Christmas - Saturday, Dec. 20, 8 p.m. Early Music New York, an ensemble known for its scintillating performances of Medieval and Renaissance, offers a holiday program with a unique flair. The ensemble performs 15th and 16th century carols, noels and motets, which orginated in sacred and secular celebration rituals across Europe. Traditional anonymous carols also will be presented, along with "Green grow'th the holly," a carol that is attributed to Henry VIII and still sung today. They bring their gifts of song to a holiday concert at Westbury Music Fair, that showcases the rich history of Irish tenor singing. Their vast repertoire includes five albums, most recently The Irish Tenors: 1999-2002.Also at Westbury Music Fair, is Andy Williams, performing his interpretations of holiday classics. Enjoy old-fashioned music and entertainment, in the ambience of flickering candelight. Stories of Christmases past are retold each night, along with a bonfire and refreshments. St. Nick himself makes an appearance, and there are Magic Lantern shows. The Magic Lantern was a predecessor of today's slide projector.The Village will be closed during the day for this event. Visitors are welcome to bring their own candle lanterns or flashlights to guide their way. Old Bethpage Village Restoration is located on Round Swamp Rd., Old Westbury. Long Island Children's Museum's "Circle Of Light" - Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 22-23; Friday, Dec. 26.Be it Chanukah, Christmas or Kwanzaa, light is a symbol common to all these celebrations. Everyone is invited to be part of LICM's Cirle of Light to make wax candles, to take home, and celebrate the holiday season in song and story.It takes place at 2-3:30 p.m., 11 Davis Ave. Garden City.
