Masters & Company Florist, located at 26 S. Village Ave, will display in the window an antique with a unique connection to the Titanic.
A few years ago, Dominik Speziale came into possession of a Titanic life preserver at a Brooklyn estate sale. Though Speziale has not been able to confirm its authenticity, but it is of the correct time period.
“The theory is this was an order that was supposed to go on the ship, but never made it,” Speziale said. “It’s a real curiosity. It’s the correct age, material and manufacturer. There are no other life preserver rings that have survived.”
Masters & Company Florist will display the preserver in its window in remembrance of the 100-year anniversary of the ship’s destruction, which caused the deaths of more than 1,500 passengers when it sank on April 15, 1912.
“It’s a conversation piece,” Speziale said. “When you go there, you’ll be like, ‘this is the neatest thing I ever saw.’”
