Don Clavin, Justin Brown not running for Hempstead town supervisor

Newsday is reporting that incumbent Republican Town of Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin and Justin Brown, who was expected to be the Democratic candidate for supervisor will decline their respective parties nominations.

As of press time, the known 2025 Democratic candidates are County Legislator Seth Koslow for Nassau County executive; Nicole Aloise for district attorney; former County Legislator Wayne Wink Jr. for county comptroller; and Joylette Williams for county clerk. For the town, Yveline Litha Dalmacy is expected to run for clerk.

On the Republican side there is incumbents County Executive Bruce Blakeman, district attorney Anne Donnelly, comptroller Elaine Phillips and clerk Maureen O’Connell.

Clavin is in his third two-year term. Brown previously ran to be town clerk and lost in 2021. He also served on the Uniondale school district Board of Education.

The deadline to announce a vacancy after a candidate declines their party nomination is April 11, Newsday reported.
