On that night from 7:15-9:15 p.m. the 10 elementary and four secondary schools in Valley Stream will showcase the educational achievements of their students with displays and performances.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will open the festivities at 7:15 p.m. in the main lobby, with a student from each school reading a quote about a goal of education in building character and community service.
We have also invited NYS Regent Dr. Geraldine Chapey to be the opening speaker, said Lights On coordinator and Memorial Assistant Principal John Squadrito.

High School District. The exhibit schedule rotates each year among the schools-from music to physical education to academics to art and career/technology projects.
This year, North High School will feature its art in Cafeteria B; Central High School, its academic programs in Cafeteria A. South High School will perform musical renditions in Room 131; Memorial Junior High, its physical education fitness demonstration titled Lights, Camera, Action in the main gymnasium.
All 14 schools have been invited to send a musical ensemble to enliven each area of the school.
Following tradition, Cafeteria A will be filled with hands-on demonstrations from the district-s five career prep programs in auto technology, computer business operations, construction and remodeling, cosmetology, and culinary arts, including the popular food taste-tests and cosmetology services.
Also according to tradition, on the second floor science corridor and classrooms, the Memorial science department will exhibit student science research projects and other interesting science exhibits.
In Music Room 117, students from the Memorial language department will entertain audiences with a multicultural festival, and the talented Jones family will perform African drumming, as they have done at Knicks half-time shows in Madison Square Garden.
The PTA-s will provide free refreshments in the cafeteria line and sell scholarship squares.
Don-t forget to light an electric candle this year and to come to ÔLights On For Education- at Memorial Junior High,
