Car flips on Sunrise Highway
The Lynbrook police and fire departments responded to a reported auto accident and overturn on Sunrise Highway in front of the Lynbrook Diner on Sept. 19 at 8:23 a.m.
According to witnesses, the driver of a Volkswagen sedan traveling east on Sunrise Highway collided with a vehicle coming out of the diner driveway. The sedan then flipped end over end and landed on its roof in the middle of the highway.  The vehicle coming out the driveway knocked down a streetlight, which then fell and broke a picture window on the diner.
At time of the accident, Lynbrook Ex-Chief Garry Pazmann was in the diner having breakfast. He ran outside and pulled the driver from her overturned vehicle. Lynbrook FD’s Extrication Team and both ambulances from the department’s Emergency Medical Company, under the command of First Assistant Chief Michael Anderson, responded to the call.
Both drivers were not seriously injured and were transported to the hospital in ambulances.  Sunrise Highway was closed eastbound for about 45 minutes until the road could be cleared.
