A Valley Stream and a Uniondale man were arrested on Nov. 19, after police conducted a traffic stop on Meacham Avenue in Elmont.

According to Nassau County detectives, Fifth Precinct Officers saw Joshua Mordi, 23, of Valley Stream, making several traffic violations while traveling northbound on Meacham Avenue, and pulled him over in front of 1349 Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont. While they were conducting an investigation, police said, they discovered that Mordi had a suspended driver’s license and three outstanding warrants.

Also during the investigation, police report, Deonte O’Connor, 23, of Uniondale, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. He then locked himself in the bathroom of Texas Chicken and Burgers. The police then called for assistance, they report, and after a short while, O'Connor exited the bathroom. But when they tried to search O’Connor, they said, he became combative, and one officer suffered from facial lacerations and contusions. Finally, after a brief struggle, the officers were able to place O’Connor under arrest.

Mordi is charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and multiple vehicle and traffic law infraction, and O’Connor is charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. They were scheduled to be arraigned on Nov. 20.
