Village elections March 15

Posted

Ann Marie Reardon

Ann Marie Reardon was appointed to the Lynbrook village board last year, filling a vacancy left by the departure of Trustee Thomas Atkinson. She is a graduate of Kellenberg Memorial High School, and received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Adelphi University.

Reardon, a mother of four, has been active in the Our Lady of Peace Parents Association for seven years, serving as co-president for three years and currently as treasurer. She has helped with many events run by the school and the parish, and was a parent volunteer for the school’s marching band. She is an active member of the committee that organizes Christopher’s Hemophilia Benefit Dinner, and is also the village’s Northeast Quadrant liaison.
Reardon will serve for three years, the remainder of Atkinson’s term.

Steven Fried

Longtime East Rockaway resident Steven Fried was appointed to that village’s board to fill a trustee vacancy created by Bruno Romano’s election as mayor last year.

Fried and his wife, Charlene, are active community members who were victims of Hurricane Sandy, sustaining extensive damage to their property and home and losing their cars.
The Frieds own and operate Not Just Fried, a local catering business that has served food at the most momentous occasions of countless East Rockaway families. Steven’s entrepreneurial spirit and understanding of small business have been key ingredients in the growth of the village’s business district.

He is also a member of the Bay Park/East Rockaway Community Reconstruction Program board, appointed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office. Working with the CRP, Fried has helped allocate $6.6 million in federal funds to projects that will protect the coastline from flooding, address recurring drainage issues, strengthen the municipal infrastructure, improve the community’s capability to respond to future storms, enhance its quality of life, maintain housing values, spur investment in the village and strengthen the local economy.

The election may be uncontested, but we urge residents to show their support for these two worthy candidates by voting next Tuesday.
