Every seat in the cathedral was filled with donors from throughout Long Island as well as honored guests, including Bishop William F. Murphy and St. Agnes Cathedral School co-principals Helen Newman and Sr. Kathleen Carlin.
Tynan opened the show with a rousing performance of "Man of La Mancha." The audience was subsequently treated to an eclectic program that ranged from Irish ballads to U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For."
The Select Ensemble of The Boys & Girls Cathedral Choirs regaled the audience with several songs, and performed with Tynan on a few numbers. The finale was a glorious version of "God Bless America" that was performed with the Select Ensemble; the audience joined in, too, for an uplifting and touching end to a wonderful evening of music.
Following the concert, Tynan spent time signing autographs and speaking with the concert's attendees. Later, at the Sponsor Reception, he was presented with a commemorative plaque by Rockville Centre Mayor Mary Bossart and several of the village trustees.
Members of the Ronan Tynan Concert Committee and administrators of St. Agnes Cathedral School thanked event sponsors and the community for its overwhelming support of what was a wonderful and unique event in support of St. Agnes Cathedral School.
