City presents its Fireworks Extravaganza
On Friday, Sept. 2, the City of Long Beach will present a Fireworks Extravaganza (rescheduled from July), which will begin at 3 p.m. with a multitude of vendors offering all kinds of food choices along the boardwalk. Get your spot on the boardwalk early or bring your beach chairs and set up on the beach. Just a little after 9 p.m., watch the highlight of the evening, a stunning fireworks display by Bay Fireworks, which will go off from a barge off the Long Beach shoreline. The rain date is Saturday, Sept. 3.
5-Mile McAvoy Labor Day Run
On Monday, Sept. 5 at 8 a.m., the 27th Annual Robert C. McAvoy Labor Day 5-Mile Race will take place on the boardwalk at Laurelton Boulevard. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. For further information, call (516) 431-3890.
Long Beach goes ‘Back to the Future’
Beachgoers can see “Back to the Future” on Saturday, Sept. 3, at Lincoln Boulevard beach at 7:15 p.m. The West End Neighbors Civic Association, Westholme Civic Association, North East Bay and Canals Civic Association, and Eastholme Civic Association have hosted Movie Nights on the Beach this summer. All events take place on Saturdays through Sept. 17 (except Sept. 10).
