City celebrates Veterans Day

The Joint Veterans Organization will hold an observance ceremony at 10:30 a.m. in Kennedy Plaza on Friday, Nov. 11. The Veterans Day Ceremony is the community's way to publicly thank the many veterans who have bravely served our country. All are welcome to attend.

Christopher Macchio visits L.B. Library

On Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. Christopher Macchio, with a tenor voice of exceptional power and beauty, will perform at the Long Beach Public Library. He will sing a tribute to Mario Lanza and opera arias from Puccini and Verdi, as well as tunes from West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera and others.

Donate winter clothes at annual Coat Drive!

The 19th Annual Long Beach Coat Drive, in loving memory of Bob and Kathy McWilliams, will be held on Sunday, Nov. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Long Beach Catholic School auditorium. Donations will be distributed through outreach programs at St. Ignatius and St. Mary of the Isle. Please bring gently used coats, jackets, hats, gloves, scarves, boots and blankets. Harlem Wizards bring show to High School

The Harlem Wizards, a team of basketball players who help schools fundraise through a theatrical game, will face off against teachers from East Elementary School on Monday, Nov. 14 at Long Beach High School. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the game begins at 7 p.m. Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance at www.harlemwizards.com. If available, tickets will be sold at the door for $12 for students and $15 for adults.
