Valley Stream boys become Eagle Scouts

Fifty to 100 friends and family members watched as three Life Scouts from Troop 116 became Eagle Scouts on Jan. 6 at the Holy Name of Mary School in Valley Stream.

At the ceremony, Lucas Camacho, 17; Kevin Donoghue, 18; and Ryan Plackis, 18, gave speeches about their time in Boy Scouts, were sworn in as Eagle Scouts and received a pin from their mentors.

“That’s very prestigious to get that,” said George Schuchman, the Charter Organization Representative.

For his Eagle Scout project, Camacho beautified the reading room at the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library. Donoghue built an 8-foot by 8-foot shed at the United Veterans Beacon House in Bay Shore for his project, and Plackis built a flag patio with lights in front of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament.
