Budget hearing
The Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing for the proposed 2009-10 budget on Monday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Hall court room.
Egg hunt rescheduled
The Recreation Department's annual Easter egg hunt will be held on Saturday, April 11 at Hendrickson Park. Students in grades K-2 will hunt for eggs at 11 a.m. and students in grades 3-4 go at 11:45 a.m. Participants should meet at the kiddie playground on the east side of the park. Easter Bunny visit Saturday
Children age 1 through pre-K can meet Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny at the Hendrickson Park administration building on Saturday, April 11 at 12:30 p.m. The bunnies will have candy treats for the children. Make sure to bring your camera.
Parking permits
Resident parking permits will go on sale Monday, April 20. The cost is $40 for two years. A current original registration is needed. Business permits also go on sale that day at a cost of $100 for one year. Non-resident permits go on sale on Monday, April 27 at a cost of $425 for one year. All permits are effective May 1.
Summer camps
Registration for the summer sports skills camps will be held on Tuesday, April 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hendrickson Park administration building. The camps are lacrosse, flag football, soccer and baseball/softball, and are open to children entering grades 4-8. The cost is $85 for village residents and $90 for high school district residents. Town board
The Hempstead town council will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nathan L. H. Bennett Pavilion, 1 Washington St., Hempstead.
County Legislature
The Nassau County Legislature has scheduled its next meeting for Monday, April 20 at 10 a.m. in the legislative chambers, 1550 Franklin Ave., Mineola.

The teen scene
A young adult Spring Fling celebration will be held on Friday, April 17 at 6:30 p.m. Teens in grades 6-12 will make a craft, play games and win prizes. Registration is required.
Come out and color
The annual sidewalk chalk art show will be held on Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to noon. Children of all ages can come to draw on the sidewalks outside the library. Chalk will be provided and certificates of participation will be awarded to each child. Following the chalk art show, Green Meadows Farm will present "Frogs, Bugs, and Animals." The rain date is Saturday, April 25.
Book Club
The group will next meet on Tuesday, April 28 at 7 p.m. to discuss Doris Kearns Goodwin's "Wait Till Next Year." Joanne Bergbom will be the guest discussion leader, as part of the Long Island Reads initiative.
AARP Senior Tax Aide
The last day of free tax help for seniors is Tuesday, April 14. It will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring your W-2 form, all relevant bank and financial statements, 2008 tax forms and a copy of your 2007 tax return.
Children's Room
There are a wide variety of programs scheduled for April 2009 with Children's Librarian Jaclyn Kunz including Bouncing Babies, Alphabet Soup, Story Craft programs and other seasonal events. Homebound delivery service
Volunteers deliver books to the homes of those with a disability or who are unable to visit the library on a permanent or temporary basis. This service is offered weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or as needed. All you need to do is complete a short application form at the adult reference desk.

Computer class
Registration begins on April 11 for Computer Third Grade for Adults. The program will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 10:00 a.m. and will cover multitasking, working with graphics and using Windows drawing and painting tools. You must have completed Computer Kindergarten, First and Second Grade.
Spring craft
A craft program will be held on Tuesday, April 14 at 11 a.m. for students in grades K-3 and at 12:30 p.m. for students in grades 4-6.

Movie Day
"The Tale of Despereaux" will be shown on Wednesday, April 15 at 1 p.m. followed by "Bedtime Stories" at 4 p.m. Adults must accompany kids.
Around the World
Singer, actor and storymaker Lou Del Bianco will entertain children with stories and folktales from every corner of the Earth on Thursday, April 16 at 2 p.m. This program is for children in pre-K through sixth grade. Audience participation encouraged.

This month's selection is "Wait Till Next Year" by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Diana Heinlein and David Houston will do a reading of the books in the style of radio drama, with music and sounds from the 1940s and 50s, on Monday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m.
