The village board will hold a work session on Monday, March 30 at 6 p.m. in the Village Hall board room. The reorganization meeting will be held on Monday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Hall court room.
Egg-citing
The Recreation Department's annual Easter egg hunt will be held on Saturday, April 4 at Hendrickson Park. Students in grades K-2 will hunt for eggs at 11 a.m. and students in grades 3-4 go at 11:45 a.m. Participants should meet at the kiddie playground on the east side of the park. Easter Bunny visit
Children age 1 through pre-K can meet Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny at the Hendrickson Park administration building on Saturday, April 4 at 12:30 p.m. The bunnies will have candy treats for the children. Make sure to bring your camera.

Valley Stream Christian Academy will hold its sixth annual auction on Friday, March 27. A silent auction begins at 7 p.m. followed by the main auction at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 and includes appetizers, coffee and dessert. You must be at least 16. The school is located at 74 S. Puppet program
Chasing Rainbows, an interactive, multi-cultural puppet presentation for children ages 3-11, will be held at the Baha'i Center on Saturday, April 4 at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $10 and are available by calling Nadine Scharman at (516) 578-8219. Teen games night
A young adult video games night will be held on Friday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m. Teens in grades 6-12 will play Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero and more. There will be treats and small prizes. Registration is required.
Book Club
The group will next meet on Tuesday, March 31 at 7 p.m. in the children's room. The book to be discussed is "Ironweed" by William Kennedy.
Musical diversity
The third program in the More Musical Diversity in America series will be held on Thursday, April 2 at 7 p.m. featuring bluegrass and folk music by Paul Helou. The program is for children ages 5 and up with a parent or caregiver. Tickets are required and are available in the children's room.
Computer basics
Three computer classes will be held on Saturday, April 4. The first class on Internet Basics and Library Databases will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. A Microsoft Word Basics class is scheduled from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. A Microsoft Excel Basics class is offered from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Registration is required.
Teen poetry contest
The library is holding its 11th annual teen poetry contest to celebrate National Poetry Month. The theme is "Express Yourself@the Library." Poets must be in grades 6-12, and entries must be original works. Submissions are due by Monday, April 6 at 6 p.m.
AARP Senior Tax Aide
Tax help will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday through April 14. Be sure to bring your W-2 form, all relevant bank and financial statements, 2008 tax forms and a copy of your 2007 tax return.
Children's Room
There are a wide variety of programs scheduled for March 2009 with Children's Librarian Jaclyn Kunz including Bouncing Babies, Alphabet Soup, Story Craft programs and other seasonal events. Registration is required for all programs with first preference given to Valley Stream library cardholders.
Homebound delivery service
Volunteers deliver books to the homes of those with a disability or who are unable to visit the library on a permanent or temporary basis. This service is offered weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or as needed. All you need to do is complete a short application form at the adult reference desk.

Tax help for seniors
Free tax help will be offered by the Town of Hempstead every Monday from noon to 3 p.m. A tax preparation program offered by Hofstra University will be held every Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Intermediate level classes are held every Tuesday at 10 a.m. This is not a beginner's class - you must have experience in playing the game.

Look Good, Feel Better
This free program, to teach women how to cope with the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment, will be held in Franklin Hospital's Shankman Auditorium on Monday, April 6 from 1 to 6 p.m. Professional cosmetologists will teach special techniques to minimize the effects of hair loss and skin changes. A program on asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is held every Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Franklin Hospital. Town of Hempstead comptroller and Valley Stream treasurer John Mastromarino, left, and Lynbrook Detective Fred Fusswinkel, will be honored at this year's fundraising brunch for Friends of Bridge, the Valley Stream-based substance abuse treatment facility. Mastromarino has been named the 2009 Bridgebuilder of the Year and Fusswinkel will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
