Valley Stream firefighters doused a blaze in the attic of a house on Emerson Place Sunday afternoon.
The VSFD responded to the call at about 1 p.m., according to Chief James Ervolino, and the fire was under control in 20-30 minutes. The fire caused “extensive damage” to the attic and second floor but no one was injured, he said.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire, which is still under investigation. Neighboring fire departments from Malverne, Hewlett, Lynbrook and Elmont provided backup.
