The Grand Baldwin Festival, sponsored by the Community Coalition of Baldwin in collaboration with the library, is returning on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021 from 12:00 noon to 4:30 pm, in the municipal parking lot behind the Baldwin Public Library at 2385 Grand Ave, Baldwin, NY 11510.
As preparations are underway for this year’s festival, the committee is currently looking for vendors who are interested in participating. Registration will provide the vendor a 10 x 10-foot selling area to display items and/or services. Vendors will need to bring their own own tables, tents, display structures, and chairs, as well as partitions or barriers separating your booth from neighboring booths as a Covid-19 safety precaution.
The deadline for the vendor application is Wednesday, Sept. 1. Registration fees for Baldwin business is $75, for non-Baldwin, $125 and for all non-profits, $25. The festival is an apolitical event, and in accordance with the sponsors’ non-profit status, no political activity will be permitted, including sponsorships or vendor booths operated by political organizations or campaigns.
The Grand Baldwin Festival is a celebration of the Baldwin community and will feature a marketplace atmosphere that will include vendor booths selling crafts and other retail goods, food, and live entertainment, with an emphasis on showcasing Baldwin businesses and residents.
The Grand Baldwin Festival was first held in the fall of 2019 in conjunction with the Baldwin Public Library’s 100th Anniversary celebration. Organizers were pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming support and attendance of hundreds of community members, making it a huge success. The event was canceled last year because of the pandemic.
There were over 70 vendors sharing an assortment of items, such as handcrafted jewelry, clothing, books, paintings, and more. Food vendors were primarily local restaurants and eateries offering delectable meals, baked goods, and refreshments.
Art students from the high school showed their talents through face painting and helping little ones paint pumpkins. Other local vendors sponsored fun activities like scarecrow building, an autumn photo station, and games for children.
Lively entertainment was provided by local talent from the schools, dance studios, and an assortment of bands and singing groups. The Community Coalition of Baldwin is an offshoot of the Baldwin Council Against Drug Abuse.
It is the Coalition’s mission to bring community stakeholders together to mobilize a more cohesive community, thereby reducing isolation, one of the risk factors for substance abuse.
Funds raised from the Grand Baldwin Festival will be used to implement community-building projects and events that bring Baldwinites together, in addition to funding scholarships for Baldwin students that give back to the community.
