Barrett recreation program
Upcoming registration dates for the summer recreation program at Barrett Park are Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday, June 2 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Hendrickson Park administration building. Summer camp runs from July 1 to Aug. 14.
Summer sports skills
The final registration date for summer sports skills camps is Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hendrickson Park administration building. The camps are lacrosse, flag football, soccer and baseball/softball, and are open to children entering grades 4-8. For more information call (516) 825-8570.

Town board
The Hempstead town council will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, June 2 at 7 p.m. at the Nathan L. H. Bennett Pavilion, 1 Washington St., Hempstead.
Lacrosse clinic
The town-s annual lacrosse academy begins on June 22. There are seven four-day clinics to choose from. The cost is $60 per child and $45 for each additional child. It is open to youngsters age 7 to 15 who are Town of Hempstead residents. Applications are available online at www.toh.li/content/rc/athletics/lacrosse.html.
County Legislature
The Nassau County Legislature has scheduled its next meeting for Monday, June 8 at 10 a.m. in the legislative chambers, 1550 Franklin Ave., Mineola.

Fireworks tickets
Tickets for the annual Fourth of July fireworks show go on sale June 1. The event is co-sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the village. Tickets are available at Collision Concepts (Rockaway Avenue and Sunrise Highway), the Hendrickson Park pool facility and administration building, and Village Hall, and cost $5 each if purchased by June 12. David L. Fisher, a.k.a. The Rope Warrior, will visit the Village Green bandshell on Saturday, June 13 at 10:30 a.m. This program is for students, grades 4-12. The Rope Warrior executes stunts that most people can-t even imagine using a jump rope. Tickets are required and are available at the Henry Waldinger Library-s adult reference desk. Defensive Driving
Registration is under way for an AARP driving course offered by the Valley Stream Jewish Center. It will be held on Thursday, June 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 322 N. Corona Ave. The cost is $12 for members and $14 for non-members. Space is limited so reserve a spot by calling (516) 561-2308.

Passport van
The Town of Hempstead-s One Stop Passport Van will visit the library on Monday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by the library-s adult reference desk to set up an appointment and pick up an application and information about documents and fees.�
Musical diversity
Patriotic and American Folksongs with Robin Greenstein will be presented as part of the More Musical Diversity in America series on Thursday, June 4 from 7 to 8 p.m. This program, for children ages 5 and up with parent or caregiver, is the finale of this year-s musical series. Tickets are required and are available in the children-s room.
Teen book chat
A young adult and parent book discussion will be held on Friday, June 5 at 6:30 p.m. The selection is Luna by Julie Ann Peters. Participants will be entered in a raffle to win a free copy of the book.
Computer classes
The library will hold three computer classes on Saturday, June 6. Internet Basics and Library Databases will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Microsoft Word Basics is scheduled from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and a Microsoft Excel Basics class is offered from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Registration is required.

The Board of Trustees will meet on Wednesday, June 17 at 7:30 p.m.� Ring bell at children-s room entrance for admittance.

Jack Schnur will make a presentation about Frank Sinatra-s career up to 1960 on Friday, May 29 at 12:30 p.m. Schnur, a retired video tape editor for CBS, will show some rare Sinatra recordings and videos.

The switch to DTV
The Federal Communications Commission will have a DTV Mobile Clinic at the library from June 1-6 to help consumers prepare for the switch to digital television. Staff will be on site to brief consumers on the status of the transition, how to apply online for converter box coupons, and demonstrate how to hook up and operate these boxes. Call the reference desk for the time schedule.

Devil Wears Prada will be shown on June 2 at 2 p.m. The movie is rated PG.
Teen driving workshop
Kristen Bartolomeo from Geico will talk to parents of teenage drivers on Wednesday, June 3 at 7 p.m. She will present information they need to keep their teens safe during the first six months of being licensed.
