Village Board of Trustees will hold its next work session on Monday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. in the Village Hall board room. The next regular business meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Hall court room.
Haunted House hosted by the Valley Stream Fire Department ends on Halloween. The last two days of operation are Oct. 30 and 31 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Brooklyn Avenue Firehouse. For more information call (516) 353-9637.

Events
Americana Dinner will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church. There will be roast beef with all the trimmings, a gift shop and entertainment. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children age 5-12. For tickets or more information call (516) 825-1182.
British Veterans of America Nassau County chapter will hold a Halloween-themed social dance on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 8 p.m. to midnight. Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Valley Stream Lions Club will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Holy Name of Mary School cafeteria. Proceeds from this event will go to local charities.
Antiques and Collectibles, a lecture and evaluation by Kenneth Powers, will be presented by the Valley Stream Historical Society on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. Bring one item for evaluation. Children's Halloween Parade will be held on Friday, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. After hearing some spooky Halloween stories, the children will march around the library to display their costumes. Treats will be available for all. Registration is required.
Three Computer Classes will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1. An Internet Basics and Library Databases class will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. A Microsoft Word Basics class is scheduled from 11:15 a.m to 12:15 p.m. followed by Microsoft Excel Basics from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Registration is required.
Library Will Be Closed on Tuesday, Nov. 4 in observance of Election Day, on Tuesday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veteran's Day and on Thursday, Nov. 27 for Thanksgiving. The library re-opens the following morning of each holiday at 10 a.m.

Children's Room has a wide variety of programs scheduled for November with children's librarian Jaclyn Kunz. She will be offering Bouncing Babies, Alphabet Soup, Story Craft programs and other seasonal events. Live Homework Help is available to library cardholders every day from 2 to 10 p.m. in English and Spanish. Families with young children, and adults seeking to support their studies or improve their math or grammar skills, will all have experts waiting to help on the library's web site. Homebound Delivery Service is available to those with a physical disability and are unable to visit the library on a permanent or temporary basis. Volunteers will deliver books to your home on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis or as needed. All you need to do is to complete a short application form at the adult reference desk. Long Island's Most Haunted is the theme for Cafe Time on Friday, Oct. 31 at 12:30 p.m. Historian and best-selling author Monica Randall will share some true stories of spectral beings who sometime show up on film. Learn about some of Long Islands most intriguing manor houses with their labyrinths of secret passageways, hidden chambers, deserted tunnels and mysterious events.
Starting Over With Beatrice will be held on Sunday, Nov. 2 from noon to 1:30 p.m. This program is open to men and women at least 60 years old who are tired of sitting home on a Sunday afternoon. This month's topic is "Giving Thanks."
Holiday Victorian Tea will be held on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. Bring a cup, saucer, teaspoon and fork, and share stories about tea and how you got your china. Register in person is required.
Toddlers in Motion will be held on Monday, Nov. 3 at 10:15 a.m. This program is for children ages 1-3 with an adult. Enjoy movement, fingerplays and popular children's songs.
