Village Board of Trustees will hold its next work session on Monday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. in the Village Hall board room. The next regular business meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the court room.
Brown Bag Lunchtime Concert featuring the entertainment of 1-800 LETS DANCE will be held at the Hendrickson Park gazebo on Friday, Aug. 22 at noon. Bring your lunch and dancing shoes.
Wednesday Concert on Aug. 27 will feature Lew Picardi. The performance will be held at the John Smith Band Shell and begins at 8 p.m. The rain date is Sept. 1.
Final Adult Pool Dance of the summer will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30 from 7 to 11 p.m. This event is only open to pool members and their guests.
Events
Punt, Pass and Kick Competition, will be presented by the Green Hornets Football league on Saturday, Aug. 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Firemen's Memorial Field. This free program is open to all boys and girls age 8-15. Finalists from this competition will move on to compete further at a later date and place. Identity Theft Information Class will be given by members of the Office of New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday Sept. 3. The program will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Andrew Fatscher Post 854, 51 Roosevelt Ave. Learn tips to protect your privacy. This class is free and is open to all members of our community. Refreshments will be served.

Valley Stream Then and Now, a photo slide show, will be presented by the Valley Stream Historical Society on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. It will be held at the Holy Trinity Parish Hall at Brooklyn Avenue and Seventh Street. Book Club meets on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. in the children's room. This month's selection is "The Tender Bar" by J.R. Moehringer.
Children's Room has a wide variety of programs scheduled for August 2008 with children's librarian Jaclyn Kunz. She will be offering Bouncing Babies, Alphabet Soup, Story Craft programs and other seasonal events. The Summer Reading Program has come to a close. Children can still hand in their book reports to receive a reading achievement certificate before school starts.
Library Will Be Closed from Saturday, Aug. 30, through Monday, Sept. 1 for Labor Day weekend. Be sure to check out your books, DVDs, videos, etc. by closing time, 9 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 29. The library will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 10 a.m.
Homebound Delivery Service is available to those with a physical disability and are unable to visit the library on a permanent or temporary basis. Volunteers will deliver books to your home on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis or as needed. All you need to do is to complete a short application form at the adult reference desk. Voice of Grandparents Support Group will be held on Friday, Aug. 22 at 9:30 a.m. This open discussion, led by social worker Sari Flesch, allows grandparents to share their experiences and recognize when and how to intervene.
Mommy And Me Salsa Party will be held on Friday, Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. for children age 4-8 with participating adult. Learn some basic salsa moves.

Tuesday Feature Film for Aug. 26 is "Welcome Home Leroy Jenkins." The movie starts at 2 p.m. and is rated PG-13.
Family Pre-School Hour will be held on Tuesday, Aug 26 at 10:15, 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. The theme is "Let's Get Ready for School." Enjoy singing, dancing, storytelling and a craft.
Chi Gong Class will be held on Thursday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. Chi Gong is an ancient Chinese system of exercises or movements performed in mediation. The class is taught by Cathy Anastasio.

Long Island Society of Italian Americans has an upcoming trip to the Big E Fair and Huke Lau Hawaiian Festival in Springfield, Mass. on Sept. 14-15. Cancer Support Group will meet on Monday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. in Franklin Hospital's Greenberg Conference Room. The group, which normally meets on the first Monday of each month, is meeting the second Monday because of Labor Day. By appointing a health care agent in advance, you can make sure that health care providers follow your wishes.
