The Rockville Centre business, which specializes in search engine marketing, has been named one of the country's fastest growing businesses by Inc. 500. The company came in at number 137 on the list, with a 1,368.5 percent increase in sales, increasing revenue from $1.6 million in 2003 to $23.4 million last year.
"To a great extent, [the reason for our success has] just been from listening to our clients and understanding what their needs are," said Kevin Lee, the company's executive chairman. "One of the surefire ways to grow a business is to solve a problem. So we've always been pretty careful trying to ask the right questions of our clients and understand what challenges they face."
Lee, along with Oceanside native Dave Pasternack, opened an office for Didit at 55 Maple Ave. in 1996. Starting off with them as the only employees, they have grown into a company with about 100 employees and six offices. But its Rockville Centre office remains its main office, with around 80 employees based there. As their company grew, Lee and Pasternack has rented out more and more of the building at 55 Maple Ave.
The company also affiliates its growth with its close association with major players such as Google and Microsoft, Lee said. "We're in the internet marketing business," he said. "The search internet marketing field has become increasingly complex over the past few years. With the increased complexities, search engine advertisers find they need our help and that contributed to our growth."
Search engine marketing allows advertisers to target its audience not just on key words, but also on geography, Lee said. Didit monitors its clients Web sites to determine who they are reaching based on geography, time of day, day of the week and season.
