The International Day of Peace was recognized for the fifth year at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church as part of Divine Yoga’s community project, Pinwheels for Peace, on Sept. 21. The project, which took place on the expansive front lawn of St. Mark’s along Hempstead Avenue, was timed to coincide with the International Day of Peace.
The pinwheels project was coordinated by Ellen White of Divine Yoga. The spinning of the pinwheels is thought to spread thoughts and feelings of peace throughout the country and the world. About 300 pinwheels were planted that day.
