V.S. Historical Society hosts gingerbread contest

The Pagan-Fletcher Restoration in Valley Stream was filled with the smells of warm gingerbread and sweet icing on Saturday as the Valley Stream Historical Society hosted its annual gingerbread contest.
About 50 people attended the event, in which Girl Scout Troop 2348 took home the title with their confectionary Christmas Village, complete with a nativity scene. Daisy Troop 2259 took second place, while Amanda and Robin Lee tied for third with Aidan Dombrosky.
The event also featured an icing demonstration by Barbara Butensky of Lynbrook bakery Gingerbread and Giggles , and a chance for attendees to put their new decorating skills to the test.
