The Rotary Club of Valley Stream held their third annual Rotary Road Run last Sunday, August 13, and Valley Stream residents took the laurels in many of the running categories, including First Overall: Chris Mammone, age 16, with a fabulous time for the four mile event of 21 minutes, 1 second.
The first female Valley Streamer to cross the line was Jessie Lusenskas, age 13, in 34 minutes, 52 seconds.
The second place finisher, overall, was Ryan Harmon, also of Valley Stream, age 17, who came in with a time of 21:29, only 28 seconds behind race winner Chris Mammone. Third place overall went to Garden City resident John DiCamillo, 44 years old, with a time of 22:44.
For the females, Patty Zebersky, 44, of Farmingdale came in first with a time of 24:55; Kathy Adwar, 36, from Merrick, came in second in 26:47; and Mary Frank-Dandola, 32, of Seaford, was third with a time of 27:30.
Valley Stream residents showed up in the top three lists in several categories. First in the 25-29 age group, men, was Rich Fischer. Michael Deegan was third in the 30-34 men, and Annie Russo was second in the 30-34 women. In the 35-39 years old group, Dolores Deegan came in third. Petra Hurney was first in the women's 40-44 category. Artie Meltzer was second in the 45-49 group. Mary Anne Lanz was second in the women's 45-49 group.
Valley Stream also took first, second, third and fourth place in the age 1 to 12 category: respectively Kevon Carter, 10, Patrick Goodwin, 12, Tom Daley, 10, Brian Daley, 12. Females listings in this category were not available at press time..
Females winners in the 13-19 group were all from Valley Stream: Jesse Lusenskas, 13, took first; Kate Goodwin, 14, took second; and Lauren Kelly, 16, came in third. Males in the 13-19 were Kevin McKeefery, 18, of Lynbrook, taking first; Sean Begley, 17, of Valley Stream; second; and Conor Lanz, third.
Female Valley Stream winners in the 50-54 were Rosanna Ciabattoni, second place; and Linneth Hall, third.
Valley Stream's Larry Eichner took second in the 60-64 age group.
Taking First Place in the over 70 age group was Valley Stream's own John Corrigan, 74, with a time of 32 minutes, 31 seconds, faster than half of all the runners in the race!
The first wheelchair contestant to cross the finish line was Kamal Ayari of Huntington, age 32, in 16 minutes, 52 seconds.
