Water tower project underway in Rockville Centre

Refurbishment of Water Tower No. 4 in Rockville Centre will begin shortly, according to Village Mayor Francis X. Murray.

Scaffolding continues to be built so workers can paint the water tower, a project that the village hopes to complete by the summer.

Despite the challenges of Covid-19, “work is still progressing,” Murray said. “We continue to make great strides on upgrades throughout the village.”

The refurbishment is part of ongoing water projects; three of the four towers have already been refurbished. In addition, last year, the village installed a second iron removal plant along Maple Avenue, which provides residents up to 5.6 million gallons of iron-free water each day. Last year the village also completed its newly upgraded sewage pump station on Seaman Avenue.
