The council's mission is to promote substance-abuse prevention, and to foster emotional and physical wellness.
The council welcomes two new major sponsors, Rita's Ices of Bellmore, along with its traditional major sponsors - Merrick Kiwanis, ABSolutelyfit and LIPA.
Walk for Wellness T-shirts will be given to the first 50 people to register and take part in the Walk for Wellness. The first 100 children who complete in the scavenger hunt will receive ABSolutely Fit writstbands.
The walk is the council's only fund-raiser of the year. Day-of registration begins at 11 a.m., and the walk starts at noon.
