Long Island law firm Ruskin Moscou Faltischek P.C. announced earlier this month that partner David Leno was named to the New York State Board of Real Estate, which consists of 15 members, including the Secretary of State, the executive director of the Consumer Protection Board and 13 appointed members.

With the exception of matters delegated specifically to the Secretary of State, the board has general authority to promulgate rules and regulations affecting real estate brokers and other individuals in order to administer and effectuate the purposes of Article 12-A of the Real Property Law.

Leno, a resident of West Hempstead, is a member of the Real Estate Department and chairs the firm’s zoning and land use practice group. He is also a member of the IDA and municipal incentives and environmental practice groups. Leno advises clients on all aspects of real estate transactions; negotiates and prepares transactional and financing documents, and conducts property closings; prepares and negotiates office, commercial and retail leases; and prepares submissions to town boards and planning commissions for zoning matters, including variances, special use permits and subdivision applications.

Long Island Business News named Leno one of Long Island’s “Top 40 Under 40” in 2007. He is a sought-after lecturer on zoning and land use topics and has taught several Continuing Legal Education programs on zoning and real estate-related matters.

Leno is a member of the Nassau County Bar and New York State Bar Associations. He is a trustee of the Old Westbury College Foundation and a President’s Council member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island. Leno is active with the Chaminade High School Alumni Association, the Chaminade Alumni Lawyer’s Association and was instrumental in the formation of the Chaminade Alumni Businessmen’s Association.
