Michele learned of her acceptance into this year's competition as
Nationals, Inc. announced its selections on September 8. Michele submitted an application and participated in an interview session that was conducted by Patty Neidert, this year's Long Island Pageant Coordinator.
Michele, 12, will be competing for her share of over $20,000 in scholarship and prizes that will be distributed to contestants. She will be competing in the Miss Pre-Teen Division, one of three divisions that will have young ladies between the ages of 10 and 19 competing in modeling routines which include casual wear and formal wear. Most important, however, is how Michele displays her personality and interview skills to the Long Island judging panel. Personality is the number one aspect that each contestant is judged during all phases of the pageant.
If Michele were to win the title of Miss Pre-Teen Long Island, she would advance to the Cities of America National Competition in Orlando, Florida.
There is no cost to Michele for participating in the pageant. Community businesses, organizations and private individuals assist Michele by becoming official sponsors to her. Michele's current sponsors include the Greenpoint Savings Bank, Miss Laura's Bodies In Motion Dance Studio, Turnpike Cleaners, Applause Dancewear and Dr. Mario Ceprini.
Any business, organization or private individual interested in becoming a sponsor to Michele may contact her Pageant Coordinator, Patty Neidert, at 1-800-659-2487.
