W.H. guitarist rocks out with Incubus

West Hempstead resident Matt Orlando recently won a guitar contest sponsored by the band Incubus as a promotion for its “If Not Now When” album. His prize? The opportunity to play with lead guitarist Mike Einziger in Los Angeles.

A guitarist himself, Orlando, 20, was ecstatic for the chance to meet and perform with the band. To enter the contest, Matt recorded and edited a video in which he played guitar, described his musical experience and expressed his desire to play with Incubus. Matt flew out to LA for a week, was interviewed for the band’s website and attended several Incubus closed concerts — all in addition to playing guitar with Einziger.

While in LA, Matt was notified that he also won a contest sponsored by Incubus for still photography in their “I love NY” tour. The first prize he received was two tickets to a closed concert at the NY Skyline. Matt was then notified that due to the superior quality of the photograph, he would also receive four front row seats at a closed Incubus concert at the David Letterman Theater. He was also given the opportunity to sit with the sound technician during the taping of the Late Show with David Letterman when Incubus appeared on the show.
