The event, at Calhoun High School in North Merrick, was intended to raise awareness of disabilities and funds for SEPTA.
SEPTA co-presidents Linda Gottleib and Pamela Hondema said, "Through this event, we hope to sensitize and educate the children and their families about people with disabilities. Our goal is to teach a valuable lesson that everyone can achieve and be successful in life, regardless of his or her disability."
The event included entertainment. Michael Korins, a Birch Elementary fourth-grader, sang "Child of the Universe." And the Calhoun kickline performed a spirited dance number at halftime.
Among the game's corporate sponsors were Washington Mutual Bank, Yale Capital, Twin Oaks Day Camp, Citibank, CC Controlled Combustion and the Gottleib family.
