According to police, Troso entered the shop on Tuesday, June 6, at 12:35 p.m., armed with a handgun and demanded money from the counter clerk. When the Starbucks employee had difficulty removing the money from the register, Troso turned around and took jewelry from three of the coffee shop¹s patrons, police said. She then fled the store in a green Nissan SUV.
Highway Patrol Bureau officer John O¹Moore, of the K-9 unit, heard the description of Troso¹s vehicle and pulled her over on Jerusalem Avenue and Pea Pond Road in North Bellmore. She was arrested after a positive identification was made.
After the arrest, Troso was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where she was treated for an unrelated illness. Shelley Lotenberg, spokeswoman for NUMC, could not give the details of Troso¹s treatment.
She was arraigned on June 7 at the county¹s First District Court, charged with four counts of first-degree robbery and one count of first-degree attempted robbery. She is being held at Nassau County Jail pending bail. Troso faces up to 25 years in prison for each robbery count, and 15 years for the count of attempted robbery.
